As our name hints at, Big Sofa’s story began with carrying an inflatable sofa around the streets of London, with no predetermined set of questions or responses – simply asking people to share their stories on video, and a conversation about what mattered in their lives. What we realized is that observing and understanding people is far more powerful than leading conversations and asking questions, and that there is an incredible amount of human experience data available that brands want access to.

We use that data to help businesses optimize the human experience, whether that is in-home or out-of-home.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring for our Americas team, due to internal promotions. We are looking for a personable, passionate, and self-driven person to join our team as a Client Director (CD). This role will be integrated to help Big Sofa expand its presence in the Americas and drive forward revenue growth.

While some of our CD roles are a split of business development + client/deliverable work, this particular role will be much more focused on driving sales. Helpful, but not essential, would be experience with or knowledge of the QSR (quick serve restaurant) industry or/and retail space, as that is a large focus of ours in 2022.

As a Client Strategy Director, your responsibilities will include…

  • Develop and execute a plan for growing both our existing client relationships while also opening up new opportunities. This includes developing and maintaining close relationships with client contacts and the industry.
  • Be a partner and a planner, not a sales person. Gain an understanding of the clients’ general business needs and data gaps, to create and influence strategic solutions utilizing Big Sofa’s platform.
  • Help to oversee the delivery of work to your clients. Add strategic value in the design and impact of that work, but also help it get deeper into the ‘so what’ and push to deliver groundbreaking data.
  • Oversee the execution of the research programs, in close partnership with the Client Services delivery teams.
  • Work closely with Senior Management & Leadership teams, contributing to the development of Big Sofa’s offer in the marketplace.
  • Help advance our data agenda in the industry. There is immense data in everything and we’re here to bring it to the surface.
  • (Eventual) direct report management responsibility & contribution to the development of talent in the organization, such as junior client managers.
  • Be a brand advocate. Spread word of our work and capabilities at meetings, networking events, conferences, and across social media.

Desired experience & skills include…

  • 6+ years total experience in growing client accounts, and opening up new clients. Additional years experience delivering client work (qualitative and/or quantitative) highly beneficial.
  • Strong and comfortable client facing presence, taking the initiative and with drive to develop new client opportunities.
  • A track record of winning new business and developing productive client relationships.
  • Track record in delivering client impact through data, analytics or insight.
  • Knowledge of QSR and/or small-retail beneficial.
  • Clear understanding of how data can be used to help clients make better decisions.
  • Passion for technology and using it to solve client problems – Comfortable using technology tools and learning new technology.
  • A team-player with an interest in developing talent and creating a positive company culture.

Job Type: Full-time.

Compensation & benefits: We offer 99% employer-paid healthcare, 25 days vacation standard, a 401k, and an understanding work life. Compensation is tied to experience, with an expected range of $80,000-100,000, plus a commission structure.

Locations: Big Sofa is a ~35 person company with the majority of people working out of London, UK. Our Americas team is growing in size, and we all work remotely. We’re open to hiring in the greater Philadelphia area; the Charlotte NC area; or remote.
